The multiple unit is available in two- to eight-car versions. The largest operator is SBB, where the multiple units called RABe 511 are used in four and six-car variants in regional and national traffic. The Swiss BLS also has 39 KISS sets - but with the new crash-optimized vehicle head. In 2019, Deutsche Bahn AG bought 17 KISSs from the Austrian Westbahn and converted them for use in intercity traffic. The four-part IC2 trains run on the Dresden - Rostock and Vienna - Rostock routes. This year these are to be increased to six cars. Other operators are the CFL, the Westfalenbahn, the ODEG and the MAV.
